What are Archives?

The Archives is best place for safe custody of papers and their dissemination.When you have accumulated a lot of important record and rare books, a time comes when you start thinking of the safe custody of this record. It is at this point that Archives has a meaning for you.

An archive is a place where you can deposit papers of historical significance for safe custody and future retention and use by the scholars.

Will I be able to see my record if I need to?

The record will be placed in the NAP under your name and you will have full right to extract information from it or obtain the desired copies.You can restrict use of your donations for period considered necessary.

How do I approach NAP?

You just call at +92-51-9202044, +92-51-9203545 or visit NAP in person. It is situated adjacent to the Pakistan Secretariat, Block N, Islamabad.

Who is eligible to use Archives?

All citizens of Pakistan are eligible. For foreigners NOC from the M/O Interior is required.

Do I have to pay any amount for consulting Archives?

To register yourself for consultation you will pay only Rs 20/-. However to acquire copies of documents or microfilms you have to pay some nominal charges as per rate list attached at annex III.

Will NAP buy my record?

Yes, it will but after the approval of a review and accessing committee.
